On Monday we were all off book (no calling for lines) for our O’Neill scenes. Aside from a couple of hiccups, everything went well.
I had changed my IA for my scene, which both grounded me, and threw me off. I felt solid on my lines, but when we started the scene I think I got a little in my head in terms of if I was continuing the activity, if I was being clear on my “doings,” and if my Hot Who’s were reading. Not to mention that the scene is very emotionally charged, and I have noticed that often when I get into the emotional meat of the scene and am connected to my objectives/doings, the words tend to get jumbled, particularly when the doings change mid-speech. Now that I’ve had the experience of rehearsing the scene with my new IA (as well as some other tweaks) I should be fine.
Jolene had us all take notes on the scenes being presented and hand them in to her. She then compiled her notes along with some of the other student’s notes and emailed them to us. Overall the feedback was positive, and the places where she pointed out to me that needed work I agree with, primarily around making some of the relationships to off-stage people hotter.
We have one more class prior to the O’Neill finals, then we move on to Restorations. I’m looking forward to that.
