Meisner Class Journal 12.17.24

Last night was the last class of the year. We start back up on January 6. I was unsure if I was going to make it due to my mother’s passing, however it turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Christine and I presented our first text scene for the final time. I was a bit concerned that I was going to be distracted and “in my head,” but instead I felt very connected and full. I think Jolene let our warm-up repetition go on a bit longer than usual, which helped me connect with Christine. Feedback was very positive both from the class and Jolene. I did tweak my trigger and Hot Who a bit, raising the stakes on the trigger, and making the Hot Who a bit more personal. The only time I felt myself in my head was when I nearly dropped a line. I was not personally 100% happy with the “Pasta” speech – I find that particular exchange to be a bit too cleverly written, but focusing on my activity during that speech helps. With more rehearsal I know it would eventually feel a bit more natural.

After class we went to English Ivy’s…Jolene joined us which was great. Again, a very welcome distraction. And while I will welcome the two weeks off, I will miss having this class to look forward to.
